‘Wounded’ is the first painting I created when I began my inward healing journey. I learned from opening my wounds, that I had been carrying unhealed trauma my entire life. This painting is a pouring out of the pain buried deep inside of me for years. In the centre of the painting lies a huge wound where its stitches are coming undone. The wound is opening, everything is coming out, all the hurt is unfolding. This painting is highly textured with layers of paint overlaid on top of each other, there is also sand from my beach in the painting. ‘Wounded’ expresses all the pain and suffering you will experience carrying unhealed trauma. It will always be a special painting for me as it started me properly back in my flow of art.
